The Book Shop/Coffee Shop

'The Way' Christian Bookshop and coffee shop is situated in a converted shop at the front of the Church building, and the shop offers a selection of good books including Bibles and Study aids, as well as CDs, posters, greetings cards, gifts and other small items.

Both the bookshop and the coffee shop have been facing staffing shortage, and this is the reason for both being combined in September 2008. The opening hours are the same for both shops, i.e. 10.00am – 4.00pm although food would only be served until 2pm. After that just drinks and cakes will be available.

Announcing this during the September church members' meeting, Dave Drury thanked Dave Cable, John Saunders and Charles McGregor who had worked hard with the building work to make the move possible and to the shops staff for all their hard working in moving things. The re-fit was not complete as new tables and chairs were on order and they were expected to arrive mid October.

The old bookshop would be renovated when time permitted and would be used as a crèche area, with the speakers being moved from the Coffee shop to there.

Jill Buchan went on to express her thanks to those mentioned above and also Dave Drury who helped with the work. They were very pleased with the result. There are six tables in the coffee shop at present and the menu has been reduced from what it was previously. It still gives a good choice and is value for money. The coffee shop will be open on Saturdays but with an even more reduced menu as only the bookshop staff would be on duty on that day. She asked that people visit the shops and support them.

The combined shops are managed and run by Jill Buchan, Wendy Peacock and Therese Hutchinson, Clarissa Shackleton has now retired after around 17 years in the position; we say 'Happy Retirement' !
